Whiskey Row alleyway. I really like this shot because it captures what alleys are all about to me. The randomness of convenience. A heater sitting on a catwalk, for customers or for employees taking a smoke break?
A jerry-rigged a/c unit and an electrical box sitting underneath.
Painted drain spout and unpainted electrical conduit.
An ice box sitting underneath the catwalk which proclaims that there is no smoking there.
Brick showing through the plaster.
And through it all an advertisement to come shopping:
3 exposure handheld HDR to get detail in the sign which was sitting in some sunshine.

There's just something about this photo.... very arty, Tombo.
Linda - It definitely turned out artsier than I had anticipated. Sometimes even somebody as clumsy as myself gets lucky. :)
Yes...it's a consumers dream come true!
Sadira - More like a business's desire to snag every customer they can, no matter from which direction they travel. :)
Tom, I like the alley ways too especially when their not too gentrified. Lots of gritty texture I think although there seems to be a lot of grittiness out on the "Row" sometimes as well but it usually moves in and out of the bars.
Tony - I love me some gritty alleys! Luckily most of ours in town lack the facelift that the whiskey row alley got.
The Row grit does seem to be contained more within its patrons than its walls. :)
Very cool shot. Have to agree with Linda's comment - funny what you can see when your "lookiung" instead of jsut going to and from.
Barry - indeed! When I started walking around town on my lunch hour I rediscovered the town I've lived in my whole life!! :)
I love your alley shots, this one has alot going on in it.
Jarart - thanks! Yeah, the whole alley is chock full of oddly photogenic bits and pieces.
