A car show

How often does a young man get invited to a car show by his mom? Not very often. So when my dearest mum asked us to join her at Embry Riddle for just such an event I couldn’t refuse.

So the three of us headed over to the aeronautical university on Sunday, me with camera in hand.

The Mustangs were in attendance, both old:

And new:

And some kit cars powered by Fords:

There was some 80’s muscle in the form of a TransAm:

There was a stripped down, home-brewed roadster with lots of plates:

There were some rarities, like this AMC Matador:

which was nicknamed the ‘Flying Wombat’:

There was some Mopar Muscle:

in the form of a Dodge Challenger:

There was even a first generation Pontiac GTO!:

It was a decent car show, but overall it felt very disorganized. Cars were not arranged in any type of order. The show was spread over two parking lots, with one containing motorcycles and ‘import’ cars that looked mostly stock. The music was an odd mix of classic rock from the stage speakers and hip hop floating over from the aerosol artist area. It was still fun though.

Mom is hoping that the car show that Yavapai College is putting on next month will be better. I’ll definitely be showing up to take a few more snaps. :)

Kitty - Thanks! The second one? Really? I almost didn't even keep that one because I thought it turned out a little too wonky. Good to know I was wrong. :)

Have a great weekend!

Great stuff Tombo.

Do you know about the show at the Airport next weekend? I'll be popping by. We can take pics of each other!

Megan - For Rizzle! :-P

Rich - I heard about the Grand Opening, but didn't realize there was a car show involved.

Not sure if I'll be able to make it. I'm supposed to be helping a friend move 10 ton of rock that day... I might be a bit tired. :)
