Costochondritis part deux

So remember last year when I popped my sternum, and took myself out of commission for a few days? Wait, you don’t remember?

Yeah, I totally did that again this week. Not stretching this time, just picking up a dumbbell off the floor at the gym. Felt a pop, decided to work through the rest of my routine, and now I’m paying for it. Ooo the sweet fiery burn of chest pain, and the knowledge that there is nothing I can do to fix it, just take it easy for a few days and let it figure itself out.

Lesson learned? Pay attention, even when doing simple things at the gym. Stupid me.

Ouch, I know your pain!! I suffer from the same stupid affliction, caused from cleaning stuff off the top of my entertainment center. That was 15 months ago and I antagonized it this week by starting a new weight training program. Ouch. Does yours hurt when you walk and swing your arms? Mine does. And when I am online for more than a few minutes at a time. Grrr.

Molly - It's the pits, eh? The last time it happened it only lasted a few days, so I'm really hoping it heals up soon. I made the mistake of continuing the gym for a few sessions after hurting it, and it definitely made things a lot worse. Dips especially...

Mine doesn't hurt too bad when walking/swinging. Mine only seems to really hurt when I do anything that brings my scapulae together.

What a darn annoying thing to have!!

Thanks Lucy! It's feeling much better now. I've been avoiding certain exercises at the gym, and just babying my sternum in general. Hopefully another few weeks and I can go back to the gym as normal. :)
