Something unexpected. You look away, you look back. It is still there. It is real. Your mind tries to shift into a state that can accept the new information.
That reminds me of seeing zebras wandering around these fields just north of San Luis Obispo, along with the cows. Looking it up later, we realized they belong to the Hearst estate. But it was bizarre at the time haha.
Where did you see this? I would think that's definitely an unusual sight where you are.
Melissa - I saw Zebras in Oklahoma! Freaked us out too.
Apparently buffalo do decently well around here. The ranch near this guy had a few of them, and I found out I have a co-worker near Prescott who has one too.
I never would have imagined a buffalo in AZ for some reason...
I did find an online store in Buckeye AZ that does nothing but buffalo. I'm kind of tempted to take a drive and pick some up. I've never tasted it before. :)
Arizona seems a lot more logical than Memphis, which is where I got my buffalo pix. Does anyone know if the buffalo actually roamed west of the Rockies, specifically in AZ???

If it were standing would it perhaps be called a buffahi instead of a buffalo?
I remember seeing some somewhere in Northern Arizona when I was a kid, probably on a farm or tourist destination back in the 60's or 70's.

Warren - you are too much! :)
I'm guessing if they were in AZ they were farm animals.
GrannyJ - I found this range map and it doesn't appear that they were native to Arizona, although they did extend over the majority of the country.
Now? Not so much.
