We watched Across the Universe last night. Overall it was a decent movie, though it was entirely too long winded for me. It says it is only 131 minutes, but it feels like a solid 3 hours.
The cast is pretty much unknowns (or at least I don't know any of them), and the story revolves around a young brit who comes to the U.S. to find his dad and ends up staying to falling in love, getting wrapped up in some drugs, art, and eventually an anti-war protest.
In my opinion there are too many characters introduced to make you truly care about any of them. I kind of got lost during the psychedelic portion of the movie, and after that I just stopped caring.
I am glad we didn't see it in the theatres. The soundtrack was pretty dang good though!

I think I'll pass on this movie!
I've been catching up on your posts and now I'm hungry. The valentine dinner looks delish..thanks for including your recipes for us
I'd call it a wise decision! :) DaNece ended up buying the soundtrack, which is all songs written by the beatles. So we've been rocking out to that all day long.
Glad you like the recipes, I always wonder if anybody really gets anything out of them.
I did see it in the theater and thought it was visually stunning in some places, and a little slow in others...My mother was watching the Grammys and said that they honored it during the show, and that it was Ringo's idea that they make a musical set to the Beatles music. According to her, there were tons of references in the movie to the Beatles...that was more her era, not mine, so I didn't catch them all...
I haven't seen it yet and now I am not at all sure that I want to.
Chickenbells - Definitely not my era, so I'm sure I missed most of them.
Mike - if you like musicals and you like the beatles it is probably worth checking out. Otherwise, el paso.
