I can see it's a Canon ... but which model? I'm looking to get a new camera too, but it'll just be a P&S one. I look forward to seeing your 'new' pictures. x

Chickenbells - the photos will actually probably get worse for a while as I learn the tricks of the new device. I know how to get all sorts of goodness out of my sd-800is, but now I will have to learn it all over again. :)

Kitty - Its a Canon G9 which is replacing my current Canon SD800is.

I'm going with the G9 because it has all the same settings as a digital SLR, without having changeable lenses (so that it is still small enough to throw on my belt and go for hikes).

If you are looking for a very good small point and shoot, i would definitely recommend the Digital Ixus camera as it's called across the pond. If you get one with IS (optical Image Stabilization) you won't be disappointed. And you get great battery life (generally anywhere between 300 and 500 shots on a charge, depending on camera settings).

I have the Ixus 850IS equivalent, which is an absolutely awesome camera that is going to become my wife's.

Sure, it's nice. But you should let me test it for you while I'm in Anza-Borrego.....

Just saying.....

What fun! Your pix are already great in my eyes, love the last with the dark clouds and bright spot of sun.
I'll be looking forward to the new photos!

I went back to that picture and enlarged it. There was that perfect circle of moon cupped by the glowing clouds. Don't know why I thought it was sun, because you were going to work, I guess.

Thanks SOLB!!! And yes, it was a moon. This time of year the sun is never up when I leave for work (6:30). A few more months though, and I will be enjoying sun-rise on my 30 minute trip in to work. :)
